The heart of Piacenza, in the former church of Sant’Agostino, was the stage for an extraordinary artistic experience thanks to the exhibition dedicated to Alfredo Casali, entitled “Alfredo Casali. The Memory of Things.” The event, curated by Massimo Ferrari, saw our enthusiastic participation as sponsors.
Volumnia: a haven for art and design
Volumnia, the exhibition space located in the former church of St. Agostino, became the perfect stage to explore the fascinating artistic journey of Alfredo Casali. The curator, Massimo Ferrari, guided the creation of a unique setting that captured the essence of the artist’s poetics through the different stages of his career.
The exhibition thus ranges from abstractionism inspired by Novelli and Twombly, visual poetry, and the iconography of Giorgio Morandi, to more recent minimalist and geometric forms. The artist from Piacenza has skillfully blended his philosophical training with a conceptual approach, creating a unique and fascinating pictorial language.
The exhibition route: a journey among archetypal elements
The exhibition itinerary, transformed the former church into a labyrinth of visual suggestions. The archetypal elements recurring in Casali’s painting, such as the house, landscape, trees and the human figure, were cleverly arranged in dedicated spaces. This arrangement created an immersive experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the different facets of the artist’s poetics.
Lighting specially designed by Davide Groppi further enriched the scenic atmosphere, enhancing the distinctive characteristics of each work.
